The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) requires that all animal foods be safe to eat, produced under sanitary conditions, contain no harmful substances, and be truthfully labeled.
Although there is no requirement that pet food products have pre-market approval by the FDA, substances such as sources of minerals, vitamins, nutrients, flavorings, preservatives, or processing aids may require approval.
We (HRC) provide guidance on all aspects of FDA regulation for Animal Food and Drug including:
• Animal food labeling
